Bannock Biscuits

3 cup all purpose flour2 tbl baking powder2 tbl granulated sugar1 tsp salt1/2 cup lard or 1/2 cup butter1 cup water or 1 cup milk


In large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

Using pastry blender or two knives, cut in lard until fine crumbs form.

Stirring with fork, gradually add enough of the water to form ball.

Flatten to form circle about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.

Using 2 1/2-inch (6 cm) cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet.

Gather dough and repeat.

Bake in center of 425 F (220 C) oven for about 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
