1. Melt the margarine and malt in a saucepan. Remove from the heat and add the oats dates and salt. 2. Grease a 7in square shallow tin, press the mixture evenly into it and bake for 20 minutes at 190øc/370øf/gas mark 5. 3. Cut into squares while still warm but leave until cool before removing from the tin.
