Pumpkin Bread With Streusel Topping

1 2/3 cup All-purpose flour, sifted1/4 tsp Baking powder1 tsp Baking soda1/8 tsp Salt1/2 tsp Cinnamon1/2 tsp Nutmeg1/3 cup Butter, softened1 1/3 cup Granulated sugar1/2 tsp Vanilla2 Eggs1 cup Pumpkin puree1/3 cup SherryOrange slices, for garnishSTREUSEL TOPPING:2/3 cup Brown sugar, packed2 tbsp Butter3 1/2 tbsp All-purpose flour1/2 tsp Ground ginger1/4 cup Chopped walnuts


Sift together dry ingredients. Set aside. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, eggs and pumpkin puree. Beat well. Mix pumpkin mixture with flour mixture and sherry. Blend just until ingredients are combined. Pour into a greased and floured 9-by-5-inch loaf. For streusel, cream butter with sugar. Add flour and ginger. Blend with hands to form small crumbles. Add walnuts. Sprinkle streusel topping evenly over batter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool on rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with orange slices, if desired.
