Rice And Lentils

1 medium onion, chopped2 garlic cloves, minced2 Tbsp. vegetable oil1 tsp. ground turmeric1/2 tsp. paprika1/4 tsp. ground cloves1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon1/4 tsp. ground coriander1/4 tsp. ground black pepper1/4 tsp. salt1 C. brown rice, uncooked1 C. dried lentils, sorted and washed4 C. water


Sauté onion and garlic in oil in a large saucepan. Add spices and cook over low heat for 4 minutes. Add rice and lentils; stir to mix well. Pour in water. Bring to a boil. Turn heat to low. Cook for 45 to 50 minutes, or until rice and lentils are tender.
