Upside Down Cranberry Apple Cake

1 C. fresh or frozen cranberries thawed1 C. unpeeled apple; finely chop1/2 C. sugar1/2 C. walnuts; chopped1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon1/8 tsp. ground cloves1 C. all-purpose flour1 C. sugar1/4 C. butter or margarine; melted1/4 C. vegetable oil2 large eggs1 tsp. vanilla extract


Combine first 6 ingredients; spoon into a greased 8-inch round cake pan; set aside. Combine flour and remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer 2 minutes. Spoon over cranberry mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 5 minutes; remove from pan. Serve warm, if desired.
